On Wednesday, Oct. 10th in Union Square, the Sustainable Restaurant Corps made its first appearance at GrowNYC’s “New Green City”, NYC’s largest annual green event. We were invigorated by the enthusiastic response to our booth and our message. From kids to elders, from restaurant owners to foodies, people were surprised to learn about the energy usage, amounts of food waste, and other stats about the sustainability of NYC’s restaurants. People wanted to know more about our program and the SUSTY rating we are preparing. We also connected with individuals, restaurants, and composting companies that are interested in collaborating with us in the future.
WBAI Radio reporter Rebecca Myles interviewed the SRC funder Christine Black during the event. The report pointed outinnovative ways SRC will help restaurants become more sustainable, and that the service is free. The interview aired on WBAI’s Evening News, Oct. 10th, 2012. Click here to listen!
