The Sustainable Restaurant Survey is here and we couldn’t be more excited. We know you’re doing a lot of susty things and now’s the time to show it.
Two initiatives recently put restaurant sustainability on the map. One is the Mayor’s initiative where more than 100 New York City restaurants pledged to reduce the food waste they throw in the garbage by 50 percent. The other is including rigid plastic like deli and take out containers in the recycling program.
Using the information from our survey we’ll get a picture of what restaurants are doing, what they haven’t done yet, and what the challenges are to being greener in this city. Then we’ll work on solutions to the most difficult problems and spread the word about simple things that make a big difference.
Our goal is to create a widely distributed rating system that gives credit where credit is due and encourages innovation. This rating will be FREE for restaurants to participate in and we hope it will let the public know just how sustainable you really are!
